Objectives

The lack of access to suitable assistive technologies that meet their specific needs perpetuates the difficulties faced by people with disabilities (PwD) to achieve their autonomy and participate in society. To transform this, Design2Freedom proposes to raise awareness among students to place PwD at the center of the design process, by promoting the transversal incorporation of Person-Centered Design in university curricula.

Activities

Design2Freedom proposes to use participatory and inclusive methodologies for teaching Person-Centered Design, promoting collaboration between higher education and social organizations, and involving PwD throughout the process. Training actions will be carried out for the partners, based on which each university will pilot with its students. The generated knowledge will feed into the intellectual outputs that will be exploited through multiplier events in each country.

Impact

The intellectual outputs of the project will be collected in the Design2Freedom Educational Platform, which will contain: a MOOC course, a Good Practice Guide collecting the process, a Toolkit, and a Map of existing experiences. These outputs will be useful for the entire educational community, social organizations, public bodies, and social enterprises. The project aims to create a culture of Person-Centered inclusive design in education, which will allow building a more inclusive society.
