Objectives

S.T.E.P.S. will provide a low-cost, open-source educational robot and a MOOC platform to democratize access to STEM and robotics education. S.T.E.P.S. aims to enhance the digital readiness of both pre and in-service teachers/trainers and students, promote inclusion and diversity in STEM education, and address the skills gap by providing an accessible and affordable platform for learning robotics and programming. Its ultimate goal is to stimulate innovative learning and teaching practices.

Activities

S.T.E.P.S. will implement several activities, including developing an open source educational robot kit and associated training materials: manual providing training for pre-service and in-service secondary school teachers, the S.T.E.P.S. School Box: a MOOC for all beginner learners from secondary school to lifelong learning, and promoting the integration of robotics and STEM education in secondary schools across Europe by providing recommendations for education and lifelong learners.

Impact

S.T.E.P.S. aims to enhance STEM education in secondary schools across Europe by providing accessible training materials for teachers, an open-source robot kit, and a MOOC platform; and to improve education quality, increase teacher capacity and student confidence, and promote awareness and adoption of robotics and STEM education. S.T.E.P.S. also seeks to democratize access to STEM education by offering affordable alternatives to proprietary robots and open-source software and hardware.
