▶Objectives
Promote the use of a Geographic Information System (GIS) : - Introduce students to modern mapping tools such as Google My Maps and other GIS platforms like QGIS. - Encourage the exploration of geographical, cultural, and environmental data. - Use GIS to visualize sustainability efforts, knowledge of Europe, and its diverse cultural heritage. Encourage reflection on the environment and a sustainable future : - Stimulate critical thinking about climate change, resource management, and ecological impact. - Invite students to reflect on a greener future. Create an ebook, a GIS guide, and a digital atlas : - Develop a collection of lessons (75 PBL lessons) related to sustainability. Each lesson contributes to the creation of a collaborative digital atlas (a sustainable and shareable resource). - Enable everyone to create their own map using the GIS guide. Produce a multilingual and inclusive final outcome - Five European languages are used: French, Romanian, Bulgarian, Italian, and English (the common language of the partnership). - This ensures accessibility, cultural exchange, and a broader impact across partner countries.
▶Activities
- Organization and implementation of 5 LTTAs (France/Reunion, Italy, Bulgaria, Romania, France), combining QGIS training and other GIS platforms, field data collection, and mixed-team work on PBL projects. - Drafting and consolidation, after each LTTA, of PBL lessons and maps: each high school produced lessons and cartographic outputs related to the local theme of the mobility. - Holding 3 transnational meetings (TNMs) for coordination, evaluation, and the establishment of quality criteria for the project outputs. - Development and maintenance of the project website (mapping.geograf.bg) to centralize guides, the atlas, mobility journals, video tutorials, and educational materials. - Organization of national multiplier events (November 2025) to present the results to local stakeholders (teachers, authorities, universities, parents).
▶Impact
Tangible Results : - “Mapping the Sustainability” Guide: a digital collection of PBL lessons including pedagogical steps and instructions for using QGIS. - Digital Atlas: thematic series of maps produced (75 maps, 15 maps per LTTA) published on the project website. - Operational website (mapping.geograf.bg) hosting resources, journals, tutorials, and dissemination materials. - Skills enhancement: training of more than 50 teachers and around 200 students in GIS tools and data collection (Copernicus). -Organization of 6 local multiplier events at the end of the project to ensure wide dissemination.- Intangible Outcomes : - Improved spatial thinking, inquiry-based approach, and collaborative skills among students. - Strengthened teacher expertise in practical uses of GIS within STEAM education and increased confidence in integrating these tools into school curricula. - Creation of a sustainable transnational network between schools and local stakeholders.
