The main objectives of the OUTSIDE project: to create a comprehensive framework to address the Hikikomori phenomenon and promote social inclusion among young adults. In particular, we aimed to improve awareness and understanding among educators about Hikikomori, their causes and consequences, equipping them with the skills to identify early signs of social isolation and associated mental health problems. We wanted to develop a Toolkit for Inclusion, providing practical tools and strategies to effectively engage young people at risk. Another key objective was to establish a European Protocol for the prevention of Hikikomori, outlining standardised approaches to the problem, at European level. Furthermore, we aimed to promote collaboration between partners by creating a unified network for knowledge sharing and resource exchange. Finally, we intended to evaluate and measure the impact of the project by analysing the effectiveness of the activities and the satisfaction of the participants. By achieving these objectives, the OUTSIDE project set out to contribute to social inclusion and mental health awareness by supporting the well-being of young adults.
