▶Objectives
The project wanted to achieve these objectives: the conduction of a preliminary research on gender stereotypes in childrens’ illustrated books, videos and games, so as to unveil models that enforce gender gaps in adult life too; - the production of tools on how to address gender stereotypes in language and illustrated literature, promoting a critical approach, while respecting context and history; - To tackle gender inequalities by providing new creative educational models for educators of pre-schoolers; - To develop arts-based resources that promote open-mindedness and can be used to tackle gender stereotypes in early education; - To develop creative, artistic workshops to promote open-mindedness, spirit of research and experimentation, so as to enhance inclusion and diversity among children.
▶Activities
We implemented all the activities envisaged by the project: methodological exchanges, training and preparation, co-design of the activities. Each action occurred smoothly.
▶Impact
Concretely, the project has resulted in the expected outputs: a pedagogical handbook, which provides educators with some background on gender stereotypes, the idBook - the illustrated book that, by way of presenting emotions in their multiple shades, encourages free expression and un-gendered options. The Pedagogical Handbook also shares a number of ideas for activities and discussions, which can inspire educators in addressing gender issues in a delicate yet efficient way. Some short clips encourage in testing the activities and provide visual references.
