▶Objectives
The project's aim was to have an effective tool for addressing the topic of conflict, which is increasingly perceived as urgent for organizations and individuals in a cultural and social context characterized by the polarization of opinions and open conflict. In particular, promoting the theme of conflict management helps organizations operating in areas characterized by the need for inclusion and integration. Furthermore, the project proposes an innovative methodology and tools that foster the development of trainers' skills, including the use of digital technologies. Specifically, the project involves the use of a board game, designed as a role-playing game in which a summit between government representatives for the resolution of an issue related to migration flows is simulated. The game is integrated and supported by a digital conversational storytelling platform that allows for participant engagement, role-setting, and support for the various phases, including feedback
▶Activities
The project developed around three overlapping and interconnected phases. The first concerned the development of the conversational storytelling platform; a MATTERS instance dedicated to the game was designed and created, capable of supporting its application in training contexts. The process began with the user experience design, starting from the definition of requirements. From there, the stories, which form the basis of the adopted methodology, were constructed. The digital platform was developed as a prototype first, and then as a final version, also in the planned language versions (Italian, Hungarian, English). The second phase involved testing the game through an activity of engaging and involving operators in the sector. The planned actions included: training trainers and facilitators on how to use the game, in order to ensure its dissemination; presentation and experimentation sessions, both in person and online. Across all phases, a coordinated communication and dissemination activity of the activities and results was managed
▶Impact
The project enabled the creation of EMMA, an integrated and evolved version of the MORE game, for conflict management training. The tool was developed in three languages and tested and presented to an audience of sector professionals; training sessions on the game were conducted, aimed at enabling trainers and facilitators to acquire the skills for its use. The development of EMMA was the subject of presentation and discussion events as well as a dedicated editorial plan on the topic of conflict management, aimed at adult education professionals.
