Deaf people and Deaf youth have their mother tongue in sign language and many of them struggle to read a spoken language MUFFIN aims to improve the inclusiveness of Deaf youth in marine education, approaching marine habitat and visiting museums and aquaria by creating a lexicon for marine "terms" avoiding “fingerspelling“ (dactylology) and giving a sign name to 40 marine species in 5 sign languages.
