▶Objectives
The idea of the project was to integrate and socialize students with disabilities from two countries with a rich cultural heritage. We wanted to arouse students' curiosity and willingness to explore the world by using fairy tales that helped them understand life situations and problems. These therapeutic fairy tales, called helper fairy tales, were intended to provide emotional support and develop students' social and cognitive skills. Each institution chose a story that allowed students to learn about the cultural heritage of European countries. We used fairy tale therapy in the project because it introduces positive elements into the emotional life of students, supports the development of cognitive functions, and helps establish and maintain international contacts. Fairy tale therapy expands emotional, social and communication competences, shapes pro-ecological attitudes, improves communication skills in English and strengthens bonds between participants. This therapy develops students' independence and assertiveness, increases their interpersonal and organizational skills, which supports their independent functioning in everyday life. The use of fairy tale therapy brought many educational and social benefits.
▶Activities
The video conference inaugurating the project allowed us to discuss the details of the financial agreement, bilateral agreement and the list of project documents. The coordinator recalled the project's goals, discussed the schedule of activities and expected results. Mobility regulations, hotel and food standards were established, and design competitions were organized. During the mobility of "4 teachers from Greece to Poland", the guests learned about the specificity of work and forms of therapy used in our school by participating in therapeutic classes. In the mobility "4 students with 4 teachers from Greece to Poland", we presented a theater and organized trips along a fairy tale trail, visiting Krakow and the salt mine in Bochnia. In the mobility "4 students and 4 teachers from Poland to Greece", we focused on workshops by the sea, taking advantage of the climatic values of Greece, and DIY classes, during which students made musical instruments on their own. The mobility of "4 teachers from Poland to Greece" was an opportunity to evaluate the project and supplement the project documentation. The project ended with a summary video conference, during which the benefits of the project were discussed.
▶Impact
The expected results of the project were well-prepared therapeutic workshops, attractive cultural events, mutual interest in therapeutic work while observing teachers' classes, establishing a good dialogue with Greek partners and increasing our organizational and linguistic competences and skills. Innovative theater workshops by the sea, team work while preparing decorations, sewing costumes and creating props for a fairy tale performance. The effects of the project include design documentation - photos and videos - project memorabilia. We have made therapeutic classes more attractive by introducing elements of fairy tale therapy: music, form and text, fairy tale motif, light and sound. Workshops by the sea brought the values of contact with nature and an ecological approach to using the gifts of nature found on the beach and creating DIY instruments by students. We have adapted fairy tale scenarios for students with special needs (Braille language, enlarged print). The material and hard results are personal certificates of participation in mobilities, diplomas, fairy tale scenarios, padlets with photos, translations of fairy tale scripts, a video with a recorded fairy tale performance and sensory books.
