▶Objectives
Through the implementation of the project, we aimed to achieve the following results: • Establish a lasting international science-business partnership that combines theoretical knowledge with practical farming experience and enables long-term cooperation between research institutions and entrepreneurs. • Increase knowledge and awareness of carbon farming, with particular focus on practices that support the restoration of soil organic matter and the absorption of carbon dioxide. • Develop and share an open-access, trilingual (Polish, Romanian, English) knowledge compendium containing information and recommendations on carbon farming to support its wider adoption. • Disseminate the project’s outcomes to a broad audience—including students, young farmers, agri-food entrepreneurs, and policymakers—through an online publication and participation in a conference.
▶Activities
The project was a natural continuation of the scientific-practical partnership established in 2019 between IRWiR PAN and Top Farms, later joined by Romanian partners USAMV and Agrinatura S.R.L. Its goal was to address the urgent European need to develop knowledge and skills in carbon farming—an approach that enables soil carbon sequestration while supporting sustainable agriculture. Despite growing interest in the concept and its relevance to the European Green Deal, farmers lacked access to practical guidance and research-based knowledge. The project aimed to strengthen the scientific and business competencies of its partners, raise awareness of carbon farming practices, and promote exchange between researchers and practitioners. It also supported the development of participants’ language, intercultural, and analytical skills, while contributing to the broader promotion of carbon farming. A key outcome was the creation of a practical resource for disseminating good carbon farming practices and building lasting cooperation between science and farming practice.
