▶Objectives
The objectives of this project were two-fold: - Create an online micro-course covering topics such as responsible media production, disinformation and fact-checking that can be used by student and community radio members that are new to radio broadcasting. There was also an aim of making the course available to anyone interested in learning or consolidating radio broadcasting and journalistic skills. - Strengthen student and community radio broadcasting in the Nordic countries by providing an educational program. Meanwhile, by gathering our target group for a dissemination event we intended to create an arena where student and community radio broadcasters would meet, network, exchange knowledge, best practices and establish long-standing future collaboration.
▶Activities
We implemented the following activities: - Online Kick-off meeting with the partners to go through the working plan and make all the necessary practical arrangements. - Workshop in Turku where we designed the micro-course concept and the survey to gather data on our target group needs. - Research and survey our target group as a way to know how they operate and what are the topics they are the most interested in. Then, we analysed and defined the content of the micro-course. - Research and content creation of the micro-course. Interviews with professionals were conducted and the material created became the base of the micro-course. - Wrap-up meeting and Implementation of the course on the micro-course platform. - Unveiling and promotion - presentation of the micro-course to our target group during a physical event in Göteborg and spread the course through various forums. - Management and coordination of the project.
▶Impact
The main output is that we created an online micro-course for radio production covering topics such as responsible media production, disinformation and fact-checking. It can be used by student and community radio, is open to anyone who has an interest in media and will ultimately improve the quality of their radio broadcasting. Through the project we managed to: - Map the Nordic student and community radios and create a database. - Survey Nordic student and community radios and get an understanding of how they operate, how the organisations are set up and more importantly what are their needs. - Create 7 podcasts on radio production that are available on Soundcloud. - Physical event in Göteborg where we gathered our target group and presented the micro-course. Meanwhile, it was a way to gather valuable feedback. The event was an arena where participants networked, exchanged knowledge and started future collaborations. Create 3 podcasts with panels from the event, which was later included in the course and released online. - Introduce micro-learning to our target group. The partners aim to further develop the concept and strengthen the collaboration between Nordic student and community radios in a bigger EU-joint project.
