Objectives

The objective to be wanted to achieve by project was to develop rapid and effective disaster response organization and to help minimizing errors and losses during recovery efforts by providing the proper and right search&rescue and interoperability skills for semi-professional groups such as mine workers, construction equipment operators, construction and infrastructure workers. Although these vocational groups have different expertise in areas such as excavation, fortification or demolition removal in collapsed areas, they do not have sufficient holistic skills and competence within the framework of disaster response and search and rescue strategies. It was aimed to professionalize these groups, who don't have full competence in disaster response, by developing their cross-skills related to disasters with innovative educational resources.

Activities

1. Transnational Project Meetings: The first event was held as a two-day project kick-off meeting hosted by AFAD with the participation of partners and protocol. Final meeting was done as online. 2. Learning and Training Event: A three-day training and education activity was held in Madrid, Spain, hosted by ESDP, with the participation of project partners and Spanish associated partners. 3. Project Deliverables Development Activities: Digi-training outputs were developed in three different languages, consisting of eGuides, Distance Learning Platform, and Simulation Module (13 different serious games). 4. Multiplier Events: Training seminars and field drills were conducted under coordination of AFAD with the participation of professionals from the target group: construction, mining, infrastructure, sewerage, and superstructure workers, as well as construction equipment operators. 5. Dissemination: Project results promotion seminars were held in Hatay and Kahramanmaraş, located in the earthquake zones, with the participation of target groups, NGOs, and AFAD representatives. Collaboration meetings and agreements were made with relevant partners in Germany and Spain to disseminate project results throughout Europe.

Impact

1. eGuides: A professional eGuide, prepared in Spanish, English, and Turkish, has been developed for use by professionals in the target group. 2. Simulation Module: An interactive module consisting of 13 different serious games has been developed, designed to enable professionals in the target group to gain experience in disaster response through interactive, hands-on practice. 3. Distance Education Module: The online platform that beneficiaries are be able to access the proper response knowledge and skills, which they will need while working in pre-disaster or disaster area, through any mobile device or PC, without time and place constraints. The platform also serves as a carrier for other outputs such as eGuide and Serious Game Module, providing access to these other outputs. The platform also includes field studies and training outputs related to professional disaster preparedness. It is a website that provides information about project activities, as well. https://ready4rescue.org
