Objectives

By implementing this project, we aimed to enhance our students’ vocational skills in gastronomy and culinary arts, increase their awareness of cultural heritage, and encourage interaction with different cultures. By combining traditional recipes with local stories, we sought to help students develop creative thinking, research, and storytelling skills. Furthermore, we aimed to promote gastronomy tourism, contributing to the recognition of regional cuisines while raising awareness about the sustainability of culinary traditions. Another objective was to increase the attractiveness of vocational education and motivate students to pursue careers in this field. By integrating digital tools into the learning process, we also aimed to support innovative teaching methods and improve students’ adaptability to technology.

Activities

Within the project, our students and teachers participated in various educational, research, and practical activities. First, we conducted research on local dishes and folk stories, compiling elements of cultural heritage. Our students studied traditional recipes, learning about their history and cultural significance. We organized culinary workshops where students had hands-on experience preparing traditional dishes. Selected recipes from Turkish and Hungarian cuisines were cooked and presented. Additionally, students used storytelling techniques to write cultural narratives behind the dishes and created a digital cookbook. Through student and teacher exchange programs with our partner school in Hungary, participants gained diverse cultural and professional experiences. At the end of the project, a digital and printed cookbook was produced as a sustainable output, designed to contribute to gastronomy tourism.

Impact

The concrete outputs and results of the project are as follows: -Digital and Printed Cookbook: A cookbook featuring traditional recipes from Turkish and Hungarian cuisines, along with cultural stories behind the dishes, was created. This book was published in both printed and digital formats and started being used as a resource contributing to gastronomy tourism. -Development of Students’ Vocational Skills: Students had hands-on experience in gastronomy and culinary arts, learning and practicing traditional recipes. They also improved their research, storytelling, and presentation skills. -Contribution to the Preservation of Cultural Heritage: Traditional recipes were archived and documented along with their cultural narratives, ensuring they are not lost and can be passed down to future generations. -International Collaboration and Cultural Exchange: Through student and teacher exchange programs with our partner school in Hungary, participants gained valuable cultural and professional experiences. As a result of this project, our students not only advanced in their vocational education but also gained essential skills in cultural awareness, entrepreneurship, and international collaboration.
