▶Objectives
With HERSAFE@HOME, our main objective was to improve the safety, well-being, and empowerment of migrant women by preventing domestic accidents through targeted education, awareness, and transnational cooperation. We aimed to reduce preventable accidents by sharing best practices—from first aid to fire safety—drawing on diverse expertise from Germany, Italy, Poland, and Turkey. The project promoted knowledge exchange to strengthen local capacity and deliver consistent, high-quality training. By developing and sharing culturally appropriate, accessible safety materials, we enhanced adult education for disadvantaged groups. Transnational partnerships expanded our impact, ensuring lessons learned could be adapted locally. We built a collaborative network to advocate for better security and integration policies while ensuring sustainability through strong dissemination. Overall, HERSAFE@HOME empowered migrant women to protect themselves and their families, increased their confidence and social participation, and supported gender equality and inclusion in line with UN SDGs and Erasmus+ priorities.
▶Activities
Throughout HERSAFE@HOME, we delivered local and transnational activities to strengthen accident prevention skills, promote inclusion, and empower migrant women. Partners coordinated project management, co-created training materials, managed the website and social media, and implemented a shared dissemination plan to reach local, regional, and European audiences. Three transnational meetings in Germany, Italy, and Poland enabled partners to share best practices, monitor progress, and align on module development and evaluation. Four specialised safety modules covered chemical risks, fire safety, first aid and psycho-social aid, and physical hazards, all translated for cultural relevance. Locally, partners ran workshops, social events, and cultural exchanges, training 63 migrant women and 61 trainers with pre- and post-tests to measure learning. Dinner meetings fostered social cohesion, while local events in December 2024, from counselling sessions to sports and cultural activities, met psychological and cultural needs. HERSAFE@HOME delivered high-quality, culturally sensitive education and built inclusive communities across all partner countries.
▶Impact
HERSAFE@HOME delivered concrete, high-quality results supporting safety, well-being, and inclusion for migrant women. It developed four comprehensive training modules on chemical risks (DE), fire safety (IT), first aid and psycho-first aid (PL), and physical risks (TR), designed in English and translated into partner languages for accessibility and cultural relevance. Partners trained at least 63 migrant women and 61 trainers using these modules, delivering practical, empowering safety knowledge with pre- and post-tests to ensure learning quality. Local facilitators integrated the content into broader NGO work, amplifying impact within communities. A public website and active social media shared materials and updates, while partners produced dissemination materials and best practice collections. Three transnational meetings in Germany, Italy, and Poland strengthened collaboration and quality alignment. Locally, partners ran training events and social activities like dinner meetings, sports, counselling, and cultural exchanges, reinforcing safety knowledge, social cohesion, and intercultural dialogue.
