The FIREWISE project aimed to enhance wildfire prevention and resilience in the Thrace region through targeted education, capacity building, and collaboration. Its objectives were: 1.Educate 100 local farmers: Equip local farmers with wildfire prevention techniques and fire management skills, fostering a group capable of serving as the first line of defense in disaster prevention and preparedness. 2.Train 10 local ambassadors: Develop a team of 10 farmers and stock breeders to act as wildfire ambassadors, responsible for disseminating knowledge and best practices within their communities. This initiative builds a resilient network with green skills, addressing climate change impacts. 3.Partner with an international organization: Collaborate with experts in wildfire management, such as NAVRB, to facilitate knowledge exchange and enhance the training process. This objective ensures global insights enrich local practices, aligning with priorities for green skills development. 4.Host two community engagement events: Organize events in Thrace focusing on wildfire prevention and education, consolidating learning and fostering dialogue, collaboration, and community action.

The FIREWISE project achieved several concrete results aligned with its objectives. Key outputs include: > Training 99 local farmers and livestock breeders: These individuals were equipped with wildfire prevention techniques and fire management strategies, creating a frontline defense in the Thrace area against wildfires. > Development of 10 wildfire ambassadors: A team of local leaders was trained to disseminate knowledge and best practices within their communities. > Creation and dissemination of educational materials: A comprehensive set of digital and physical resources was developed, including brochures, video tutorials, and training manuals, ensuring ongoing access to wildfire management knowledge. > Two community engagement events: These events reached diverse participants, fostering dialogue and awareness about wildfire prevention and promoting a collaborative approach to disaster management. > International collaboration with NAVRB: Knowledge exchange with international experts enriched the training process, introducing global insights into local wildfire management strategies. > Extensive dissemination: Over 1,000 individuals were reached through social media campaigns, local media, and community networks.
