▶Objectives
The DEVICE project aimed to strengthen inclusivity and modernisation within vocational education and training, with a particular focus on learners with disabilities. Its primary objective was to create accessible learning conditions, reduce existing barriers, and promote greater awareness and sensitivity toward diverse learning needs. The project sought to enhance digital competences among students and educators through innovative learning pathways and an interactive educational platform. It also aimed to integrate green skills and energy-efficiency knowledge into VET curricula, aligning education with Europe’s environmental priorities. A further objective was to reinforce cooperation among VET providers, educators, and stakeholders in order to promote innovative teaching practices and flexible learning opportunities. Overall, the project intended to ensure equitable access to high-quality education and to support the full participation of all learners in modern, inclusive VET systems.
▶Activities
The DEVICE project emerged from persistent inequalities within vocational education and training, where learners with disabilities remain significantly underrepresented, including in Erasmus+ mobility, where their participation is below 1%. This situation reflects systemic barriers and a clear lack of accessible, inclusive learning environments. The partner organisations identified gaps in digital readiness, specialised teaching methods, and accessible resources, which limit the participation and progress of disabled learners. At the same time, the growing importance of environmental sustainability and energy-efficiency skills, driven by European priorities such as the Green Deal, remains insufficiently accessible to diverse learners. DEVICE was conceived to address these challenges. The project aims to strengthen inclusivity in VET, improve the competencies of educators working with disabled learners, and ensure fair access to modern digital and green-skills education. Its purpose is to remove learning barriers and support equal participation for all learners in contemporary European education.
