Objectives

This project aims to create an educational tool to raise students' awareness of the European Union, citizenship, Olympism and sustainable development through escape games that comply with the French National Education System's core skills and the EU's key competences. These games allow students to validate their learning in mathematics, science, history and geography, physical education and sports, moral and civic education, and languages, while developing skills in cooperation, reflection, and argumentation. For teachers, they provide a fun and informal assessment of learning outcomes in an interdisciplinary approach. In addition, teachers learn how to design fun tests, arrange the classroom to create an immersive environment, and adapt the game for individualised learning. Finally, they can also draw on the thematic selection of educational videos to convey this knowledge in the classroom as a complement to other teaching materials.

Activities

To implement the project, the team analysed French and Romanian skills frameworks in order to define the learning objectives and designed educational escape games with a variety of challenges, settings and appropriate materials (mission cards, booklets, interactive Genially files with videos). These games were tested with pupils and children in different educational contexts. A guide to eco-responsible practices was developed based on SWOT analyses, questionnaires and research on international, European and Erasmus+ public policies. This guide offers concrete resources, a summary of policy frameworks and a selection of good practices to be implemented in the classroom or outside school. Finally, the project was punctuated by presentation events, meetings in France and Romania, and monthly online meetings, promoting collaborative and effective monitoring. These activities strengthened cooperation between partner organisations and directly involved the educational community. They also helped to disseminate the project's outputs to a European audience (via our articles on EPALE, on Facebook and our multilingual website).

Impact

The SEMVA project has produced concrete results focused on eco-citizen and fun education. SEMVA's Escape Games, which can be played at school, in clubs or in activity centres, allow five teams of around 30 players to participate indoors or outdoors. Each team has mission cards and a game booklet, while a specific guide helps the supervisor prepare, lead and evaluate the game. Two educational volumes complete the tool: the first establishes the link between European key competences and their integration into the French and Romanian education systems; the second offers videos and materials to prepare and extend learning. At the same time, a guide to eco-responsible practices has been designed to support the educational community and Erasmus projects, presenting concrete tools, a European and international policy framework, and practical advice for integrating sustainability and inspiring action. These resources promote cooperation between educational stakeholders and strengthen the links between school, sport and culture. They also ensure the dissemination of free, accessible and multilingual resources to a wide European audience.
