Objectives

Our goal was to raise our students’ ecological awareness, strengthen their civic skills, equip them with the tools to become real agents of climate change in their communities, and develop their critical thinking. We wanted to help our students understand the importance of protecting the environment and show them that they have a role to play. Many young people feel powerless in the face of climate change; through this project, we aimed to prove to them that they can act, even at their own level, and that their everyday choices have a real impact. We sought to raise their ecological awareness by helping them better understand climate change, its causes, and its consequences. We wanted to strengthen their civic skills, such as expressing themselves clearly, listening to others, and sharing their ideas. We viewed digital technology as a key learning tool, with the aim of developing strong digital skills among our students. Finally, we aimed to open students to cultural diversity and European realities in order to enhance their understanding, tolerance, and spirit of cooperation.

Activities

We organized numerous activities to raise students’ awareness about climate change, develop their skills, and encourage their engagement. Workshops and debates: Students took part in workshops on ecology, climate, and sustainable development, linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These sessions allowed them to better understand environmental issues and discuss them in groups. Field visits: Many outings were arranged to observe firsthand the connections between human activities and nature. Students visited eco-farms, community gardens, local markets and producers, research centers, as well as protected natural areas. Concrete actions: Students participated in practical environmental activities such as cleaning beaches or parks, protecting endangered species, taking part in cooking workshops, and planting trees at schools. Digital and creative activities: Training sessions helped them become familiar with digital and creative tools, such as editing and animation software, to better communicate about climate issues.

Impact

The project resulted in several collective achievements showcasing the students’ commitment and creativity: A “0 km” recipe book and video/photo montage highlighting the impact of food on the climate. A handbook of best practices for adopting eco-friendly habits in daily life. Three digital animations created by the students to promote climate action. A book of environmental fables featuring endangered animals and messages for a sustainable future. The planting of four trees in our schools, symbolizing the unity and sustainability of the partnership. Furthermore, the project strengthened cooperation between partners through: An eTwinning platform centralizing all productions, testimonials, and commitments. Regular meetings and virtual workshops to monitor progress and share outcomes. Active dissemination of the outputs, both internally and within educational networks, to broaden the project’s impact. In parallel, several initiatives enhanced the project's reach: Participation in the ErasmusDays by two partner countries. Promotion of the Earth Hour event on social media to inspire local action. Organization of an EcoFashion Fair advocating for sustainable fashion.
