Objectives

Over the last 10 years we have developed and refined the use of role-playing games in youth work in an international network to a point at which we have become very good at motivating young people to develop essential skills. We have seen this work very well, especially with disadvantaged learners, and we therefore intend to implement the approach on a bigger scale, introducing non-formal learning as after class activities in schools and evaluating the learning results scientifically.

Activities

We intend to establish a network of schools in which we immerse young people in role-playing games and connect them tightly with general youth work outside of schools. We plan to establish regular weekly RPG activities in the afternoon run by experienced role-players. We will prepare and train these role-players in order to create optimal non-formal learning environments that foster personal development. We will also have a university partner evaluate the learning scientifically.
