▶Objectives
While implementing the project, we primarily aimed to ensure that students at partner schools embrace the principles of a healthy lifestyle. We aimed to achieve a real change in students' and parents' approach to the broad issue of physical and mental health. We aimed to ensure that healthy lifestyles were permanently ingrained in the consciousness of at least 30% of young people and guided their choices. The project's main goal was reinforced by specific objectives, namely, developing healthy eating habits in 40% of students, including: replacing sweets with fruit, eliminating fast food, increasing the level of motivation to undertake physical activity by 30% - showing its various forms and the benefits of practicing sports, reaching for active forms of spending free time by 40% of students from partner schools - team games, playing together in the real world, increasing the level of social inclusion and the sense of belonging to a group of students with special educational needs by 100% - showing students with special educational needs that they can spend time actively together with their peers, improving teamwork skills and increasing self-esteem and self-confidence in 90% of project participants.
▶Activities
The project involved 24 students and 12 teachers from partner schools. Three mobilities were completed (one in each country), with online collaboration and local activities conducted in their schools. During the mobilities, the students explored various forms of physical activity – active breaks, outdoor games, and team games – that facilitated the social inclusion of students with special educational needs. They also learned the principles of healthy eating by working on educational games and projects. They then transferred the solutions developed during the project to their schools, conducting peer education and promoting healthy lifestyle. Teachers supported and supervised the students' activities. They themselves developed lesson plans on healthy eating, conducted and discussed open lessons, created team game plans that fostered the social inclusion of students with special educational needs, and worked on selecting methods and forms of sports promotion for students with disabilities. Between mobilities, project participants collaborated online and disseminated the solutions developed in their schools and local communities through training, demonstrations, and conferences.
▶Impact
The project's implementation allowed for the development of effective forms of influence, which led to an increase in the percentage of students making conscious decisions to incorporate healthy lifestyle principles into their daily lives. More conscious eating, increased physical activity both in physical education classes and extracurricular activities, active participation in games and physical activities during breaks, and the inclusion of students with special educational needs in various forms of activity – these are the most visible effects of the project activities. The project developed and tested specific tools that helped achieve its intended goals. Project outcomes, such as lesson plans and educational games on healthy eating, descriptions of outdoor and team games fostering social integration, active breaks, and descriptions of methods and forms of sports activation for students with disabilities, are practical solutions that have contributed to real change here and now, and will also be used in the future to continue implementing the changes in awareness and attitudes of young people and their parents initiated during the project.
