▶Objectives
By implementing the project, we wanted to help drive a real change in how entrepreneurs approached sustainability. Our aim was to make sure they didn’t just see green business as a distant concept but understood it as an opportunity they could embrace with the right skills and tools. We wanted to give them practical knowledge and clear examples so they could feel confident in adapting their businesses to meet the demands of a sustainable and circular economy.. We also hoped to fill the gap in training and resources. Many entrepreneurs across Europe lacked guidance on how to make their operations more sustainable, which held them back from tapping into growing green markets. Through this project, we wanted to equip them with the technical and operational skills needed to innovate and compete in these emerging sectors. We wanted to support sustainable growth that benefits both local communities and the wider European economy. Within GS4E we implemented a first level research of EU-wide good practices, we identified and got in touch with sustainability business model case studies, and we tested technical resources that will be a strong basis for a future Cooperation Partnership project, with bigger consortium and wider impact.
▶Activities
In the GS4E project, we carried out four main activities exactly as set out in our plan. We began with strong project management to coordinate the work between Portugal, Austria and Greece. This ensured smooth communication, kept us on schedule and made it possible to handle the tasks efficiently. We then conducted detailed research into good practices in green entrepreneurship across Europe. This was a key part of our work. We wanted to explore real examples showing how businesses had embraced sustainability, so we could share proven approaches with other entrepreneurs. Based on this research, we developed a podcast series that brought these good practices to life. Through nine episodes, we showcased inspiring stories and insights from real businesses that had successfully adopted green and circular models. This made learning more engaging and practical. We created a sustainability skills assessment test for enterprises. This tool allowed businesses to look at their current operations and identify areas where they could grow more sustainable. By carrying out these activities as promised, we made sure the project truly met the goals we set at the start and responded to the needs we identified.
▶Impact
Our project produced several concrete outputs that matched what we had planned from the start. We created a comprehensive handbook of good practices in green entrepreneurship, based on our detailed research across Europe. The handbook includes 12 Good Practices including sustainable business models, public sector initiatives, and EU funded projects results, not only from the Portugal, Austria and Greece, but from other EU countries as well. We also developed a podcast series with nine episodes, each sharing stories and lessons drawn from these good practices. This made the knowledge more engaging and easier to access for entrepreneurs, trainers and adult learners. Another key output was our sustainability skills assessment test for enterprises. This interactive tool helps businesses reflect on their current level of sustainability and identify areas where they could improve, guiding them towards greener choices. We wanted these results to encourage new discussions around sustainable business, raise awareness, and spark interest in adopting greener models. Our hope was that by delivering these outputs, we could help meet the needs we had identified at the start and support more entrepreneurs in moving towards sustainable practices.
