The main objective of our project was to raise awareness about recycling and environmental sustainability among students, teachers, and families. We aimed to help students understand the environmental impact of overconsumption and waste and to promote conscious behaviors such as reusing, reducing, and recycling. Specific goals included increasing participation in recycling activities, integrating environmental topics into different subjects, and enabling students to explore traditional and modern recycling practices in different cultures. An additional priority involved strengthening digital literacy through the integration of Web 2.0 tools, while fostering European values by promoting intercultural dialogue and collaborative learning. Furthermore, we sought to empower students as environmental leaders and to encourage their meaningful engagement in democratic processes and sustainability-related decision-making within the school environment.

As part of our project, we organized four short-term learning mobilities in Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Turkey. Each mobility focused on a different theme related to environmental awareness, including waste management, nature-based solutions, and energy sustainability. Throughout these mobilities, we successfully carried out a diverse range of activities, such as thematic workshops, recycled art projects, environmental education sessions, demonstrations of traditional reuse practices, guided nature walks, and visits to recycling centers. Students and teachers actively collaborated using digital tools such as Padlet, Canva, and Kahoot to create e-books, visual materials, and awareness campaigns aimed at promoting environmental consciousness. Progress was consistently monitored and documented through online meetings, pre- and post-evaluation surveys, and daily reflection activities. Beyond raising environmental awareness, the project also provided students with meaningful opportunities to enhance their creative and digital skills. These activities were implemented through close cooperation with partner schools, local municipalities, and non-governmental organizations, all united by a strong spirit of solidarity and shared purpose.

This project achieved a wide range of impactful outcomes, including the creation and dissemination of environmentally themed educational materials like brochures, posters, and videos, which helped raise awareness within the community. The active use of recycling bins in partner schools, along with student-led awareness campaigns, contributed to behavioral changes, with 80% of students reporting improved waste separation habits. Artistic products made from recycled materials were showcased, and a school compost area was established to promote sustainable practices. The project activities were compiled and published in e-books along with the posters. Students' waste separation habits improved significantly, and 80% reported changes in their daily behavior. Teachers began incorporating sustainability topics into various subjects, using interdisciplinary approaches. The project also improved students' English and digital literacy skills. In addition to tangible results, it promoted environmental responsibility, intercultural understanding, and cross-border collaboration, contributing to local and European sustainability efforts.
