The main objective of the A-CLASE project was to foster inclusion, diversity,participation, and lifelong learning among vulnerable adults through the implementation of dialogic gatherings (DGs) rooted in classical literature and art. We aimed to create spaces for seniors, unemployed, and low-skilled adults could reflect on universal human themes, and develop essential soft skills. The project sought to empower older adults by training them as DG facilitators, equipping them with interpersonal, pedagogical, intercultural and digital competencies. This not only supported active ageing, but also enabled their meaningful engagement in community life. Another key objective was to promote the visibility and transferability of dialogic practices in adult education by developing a digital e-textbook, a practical guidebook, and an open-access e-library of tested resources. We also aimed to raise awareness of the method’s benefits among educators and institutions. Ultimately, we wanted to demonstrate that inclusive, non-formal education rooted in cultural dialogue can reduce social isolation, improve self-confidence, and strengthen the sense of belonging in both Slovenia and Türkiye.

The project began with joint planning and coordination between the Slovenian and Turkish partners to set procedures, timelines, and quality standards and shared expectations. Before the mobility in Türkiye, senior volunteers were trained in the use of digital tools such as Zoom, Teams, and WhatsApp—essential for remote participation, coordination with group leaders, and peer support. A key activity was the international training in Türkiye, where volunteers deepened their understanding of dialogic gatherings (DGs) and practiced facilitation methods. Both countries implemented DGs with over 150 adult learners, focusing on classical literature, art, and music. The gatherings supported the development of empathy, communication, and critical thinking. In parallel, the project produced three digital outputs: an e-textbook, a practical e-guidebook, and an open-access e-library of tested materials. Participants and volunteers completed pre- and post-evaluations to assess progress in soft skills. Volunteers were formally recognised as “DG Ambassadors”. The project concluded with a transnational partner meeting in Slovenia, where results were reviewed and sustainability strategies were discussed. Both countries also held closing events.

Through the project we achieved multiple concrete and sustainable outcomes aligned with the initial objectives. Twenty senior volunteers (ten in each partner country) completed training and went on to lead a series of Dialogic Gatherings (DGs). Over 150 adult learners, including unemployed and low-skilled individuals, participated in DGs centred on classical literature and arts. A significant digital deliverable package was produced: an e-textbook presenting the theoretical underpinnings of DGs, a practical e-guidebook for facilitators, and an open-access e-library of tested texts and materials. The e-guidebook includes 13 downloadable annexes—such as preparation templates and the evaluation questionnaires used to assess progress. Participants and volunteers completed pre- and post-project self-assessments covering communication, empathy, collaboration, emotional regulation, and self-confidence. The results showed marked progress in all areas. At the closing events, all trained seniors were formally awarded the title of “DG Ambassador”. Each partner also held a final conference during the national Lifelong Learning Week(s), maximising dissemination through the presence of ambassadors, NGOs, and other adult learning stakeholders.
