Objectives

The SCALExD project aims to train a new generation of “digital” craftsmen, young designers, artists and architects. It focuses on establishing a new interdisciplinary training curriculum at the intersection between art, design, engineering and architecture that is capable of training HEI trainers and learners from different backgrounds to develop skills in the design and fabrication of large-scale artefacts using new technologies and sustainable materials.

Activities

The SCALExD project will develop transdisciplinary innovative contents between design, engineering, art and architecture, through collaborative work. 3 workshops with a total of 90 students will be tested in France, Spain and Austria, in relation with different associated partners, as well as a short programme dedicated to professionals. A masterclass will be organized, combined with a dissemination event on the occasion of “Barcelona - 2026 Unesco World Capital of Architecture”.

Impact

The SCALExD project will mainly produce an innovative curriculum and teaching format proposals, digital educational resources to be shared (videos, presentations, guidelines, texts), technical reports on pedagogical and learning contents (workshops, masterclass, short programme for professionals), online portfolios of participating students.
