▶Objectives
Our main motivation is driven by the urgent need for Mediterranean mountains (remote) territories to adapt to climate change and engage into the green transition. To do so, they have to mobilize and support all their stakeholders, especially from the tourism sector, one of the main greenhouse gas contributors. Thus, by implementing this project, we want to equip tourism professionals with green skills, enabling them to reduce their carbon footprint and achieve EU Green deal challenges.
▶Activities
We will firstly deliver a 3-modules training to tourism professionals, aiming to increase their green skills to be able to reduce their activities carbon footprint. Secondly, we will co-build a decision-support carbon tool helping local decision-makers and tourism professionals to plan and implement concrete actions to lower the environmental impact of tourism activities. Finally, we will disseminate and transfer at the local, national and European scales the project results and tools.
▶Impact
Our main expected result is to reduce the carbon footprint of tourism activity in remote mountains areas. To do so, we will rely on complementary outcomes ensuring a strong and long-term mobilization of tourism professionals: - A training kit towards a low-carbon tourism - A decision-support carbon measuring tool and 5 territorial actions plans for each territory involved in the project - 101 tourism professionals involved - A transfer plan and dissemination activities at the local and EU levels
