Objectives

Implementing the project aims to provide Ukrainian refugee women with new perspectives, strengthen their self-efficacy, and facilitate their integration into society and the labor market. The project seeks to equip participants with tools and strategies to better recognize and utilize their potential. Through coaching, reflective formats, and a structured curriculum, the project helps them overcome mental barriers, explore career alternatives, and expand their scope of action and thought. Practical support is offered to understand their diverse perspectives and encourage open communication both internally and with others. Concrete steps are taken to foster greater independence and self-determination. In the long term, the project is designed to provide immediate support for these women and the empowerment to independently start and pursue new paths. The project encourages ongoing communication in both the existing group of participants and new networks, enabling the exchange and expansion of their perspectives over time.

Activities

Five activities were implemented in the project, which were specifically tailored to the needs of the refugee women from Ukraine and their broadening of perspectives. First, a specific needs analysis was carried out better to understand the various challenges and goals of the participants. Based on this, a curriculum was developed that was specifically geared towards self-efficacy, mental strength, and diverse perspectives. A prototype course in a blended learning format was developed and tested based on all of these points. As part of this training and subsequent coaching sessions - partly online and partly face-to-face - individual topics were addressed, including personal challenges, professional reorientation, and self-confidence. The participants were given practical tasks to implement their findings directly. Finally, the experiences and results were evaluated and disseminated via dissemination measures to make the conclusions usable in the long term. The findings were further processed and published in a scientific publication, a newspaper report, and a radio interview.

Impact

A needs analysis was conducted, presenting challenges/ needs of Ukrainian refugee women. Data like personal and demographic information, attitudes and challenges of integration were collected in an online survey. The curriculum contains methods for group and individual coaching, as well as content in critical thinking, perspective-taking and mental well-being (context integration support and professional orientation). Further, a blended learning format consisting of both onsite and online elements was implemented with 20 Ukrainian women. The onsite workshop included a workbook to facilitate the exchange and expansion of perspectives. Followed by two individual online coaching sessions, to strengthen self-efficacy, developed new perspectives, and created concrete action plans. To evaluate the impact of the workshop and coaching sessions, data was collected at three distinct intervals (pre-workshop; post-workshop; post-coaching) comparing responses and effects of the instruction, as well as feedback identifying issues and improvements. The women reported increased self-confidence, improved professional orientation, and active steps towards integration. All findings were documented. The results were shown through different channels.
