▶Objectives
The H2Our Life project was started to raise awareness among young students about water scarcity. The project also encourages environmentally responsible behavior. Partner schools from Turkey, Italy, Poland, and Romania joined to address the rising risks of water stress caused by global warming, natural disasters, industrialization, and poor water governance. OECD and WRI data indicate that all four countries may face serious water shortages in the future. The project aims to integrate climate and water education into school life through collaborative, inclusive, and practical activities. It strengthens international cooperation and encourages civic and ecological responsibility. Students and school communities learn sustainable water management practices to support long-term behavior change. Main Objectives are to: enhance water literacy among at least 60% of students in each partner school. develop ecological-civic skills and promote responsible water behavior in at least 60% of students. design and implement two model strategies for sustainable water management through international exchange and collaboration. reduce per capita water consumption by 10% within five years across all partner schools.
▶Activities
The H2Our Life project was implemented through four short-term learning mobilities in Italy, Romania, Poland, and Turkey. Each mobility focused on water awareness, sustainability, and environmental education, helping students develop green skills and key competences while promoting inclusion. In Italy, students joined clean-up activities, upcycling workshops, robotics-based microplastic detection, and awareness walks. Romania emphasized ecosystem observation, sustainable agriculture, water quality assessment, and campaigns. In Poland, students carried out laboratory analyses, kayaking-based water sampling, and created sustainable city models while engaging with local authorities.The Turkish mobility offered scientific, cultural, and artistic experiences. Through thirteen culture stations, students participated in hydroponic and aquaponic workshops, Ebru and pottery on waste water, smart city design, and activities on Black Sea traditions. They also attended the MCOMUN 2026 Water Conference, AquaVision 2025 Rethinking Water Future Conference, and job shadowing sessions. Institutional visits included SUMAE, DSİ, Trabzon Aquarium, Botanical Park, and local factories.
