▶Objectives
The aim of Maths is everywhere.Added Value - level up! project is to create social change in teaching math in Polish and European secondary schools.We will support teachers mostly from technical and vocational schools in showing their students how the world around them can be better understood with the use of math. We intend to show the practical side of math to the students, to put math in everyday context and make them believe that they can successfully learn it and there are reasons to do so.
▶Activities
Based on research on what math concepts are most difficult for students, and are considered most useful by teachers, we will prepare a Mathematical Educational Toolkit using the design thinking methodology (a series of iterations) that will first be tested in 40 schools in 3 countries with 600 students. After modifications we will widely disseminate it by training a min. of 400 teachers and educators and reaching 10.000 students.
▶Impact
The Educational Mathematical Toolkit, available in 4 languages, will support teachers in working with students with the lowest level of mathematical skills in showing the practical use of mathematics. It will contain 4 packages of tasks, games, inspirations and graphic materials that teachers will use in classes, as well as practical methodological tips to support them in preparing their own tasks.The Toolkit will support students to become independent thinkers in a complex reality.
