Objectives

SAFE(R) SPACES aims to look at how migrant communities experience the sense of safety. We want to look at it from various points of view: from socio-political perspectives, through personal stories to working with creative expression and somatic work. We are interested in how deepening the awareness of our embodied selves can inform creating the sense of safety for individuals as well as communities. We want our results to inform social awareness and to be accessible to broader audiences.

Activities

We base our project on 140 hours of group workshops conducted on a regular basis in Poland and Belgium, as well as five-day intensive meetings dedicated to international exchange of ideas and a production of online learning materials. The workshops will be inspired by various techniques coming from somatic work, theater and group process theory. We will collaborate with people showing local expertise and share the outcomes of our project with a broader community of local people and educators.

Impact

Expected outcomes include: - developing practical coping mechanisms for migrants through creative practices and providing space for personal development; - increased visibility and advocacy for migrant issues; - developing an online learning materials that showcases innovative practices; - establishing sustainable partnerships. These efforts are designed to foster a deeper community and individual awareness of safety and belonging, contributing to broader social awareness and inclusivity.
