▶Objectives
Ode2Joy Up2Date's ambition is to use the Ode to Joy, our European anthem, as a tool for artistic development and European citizenship with teachers and middle school students from disadvantaged rural and urban areas. Teachers will be testing innovative, participative teaching practices (transdisciplinary and games) with young people from France and Belgium. The aim is to create tools that make art and the EU accessible to all.
▶Activities
There are 6 activities. Activity 1 and 2 will train 10 teachers from France and Belgium about the Ode to Joy in an innovative way. They will co-create an educational toolkit meant to teach about musical and civic education differently in these two countries. Activity 3 aims at encouraging every young person to reinterpret the Ode2joy. Activities 4 and 5 are a complimentary mix of advocacy actions and youth mobilities. The last is about producing digital communication means.
▶Impact
The expected outcome of this project, thanks to the civic and musical education trainings offered to 5 Belgian and 5 French teachers and their middle school students, is the creation of teaching tools co-constructed between themselves, tested in an intercultural, inclusive context and scalable. The teaching kit will include an Ode2Joy website to make resources available, and the creation of a virtual museum to present contemporary reinterpretations of the Ode2Joy.
