Summary

The project wants to draw students' attention on the impact that human activities have on the environment with particular regard to our eating habits . We want them to understand how important is to protect local ecosystems and what actions we have to undertake to live in a sustainable way. We want to foster children's interest in STEM while engaging them in alternative learning environment. The project aims to provide teachers with useful tools to make environmental education more attractive.

Activities

Create a climate observer team Study different ecosystems in protected natural areas Make a vegetable garden at school Meet a beekeeper and construction of house for insects Activity in the STEM lab: recreate natural environments with 3D viewer, create models to produce green energy Visit to firms producing biological/km-zero products Survey about food waste Collaborativ ebook with healthy recipes following the cycle of the seasons and a trilingual pictorial dictionary of medicinal plants

Impact

We expect students to acquire awareness about the effects of irresponsible food consumption on the health and the environment and as a consequence they will acquire new eco- friendly behaviors. Students will become conscious about the importance of STEM subjects to protect our planet. Teachers thanks to good practice sharing will learn new teaching techniques. Foreign language development, respect for different cultures and formation of European identity will be assured.
