▶Objectives
The Toy-Free Month project aims at training kindergarten teachers to select and create toys from sustainable materials with their young learners, during a dedicated month without conventional toys in the classroom. This will empower them to promote a sustainable lifestyle in future generations, contributing to the long-term sustainability of our planet.This will be best achieved through the international collaboration among kindergarten teachers who share an interest for sustainability education
▶Activities
The TFM project includes the following: A Training Activity in Slovenia to teach kindergarten teachers how to implement the Toy-Free Month practice. The Sustainable Play: Toy-Free Month Guide offering step-by-step instructions for implementation. Two Online Conferences to raise awareness about the practice. The implementation of Toy-Free Month in kindergartens across partner countries. Four national workshops to engage and motivate more teachers to adopt the toy-free practice in the classroom.
▶Impact
The Toy-Free Month project offers a detailed guide that can be used beyond the project. Kindergarten teachers can adapt and enhance the materials with their own practices. Children will explore sustainability by creating their own toys, while teachers will boost their skills and confidence in teaching sustainability. Partners will also strengthen their ability to develop innovative materials and enhance their professional development offerings in early childhood education.
