Objectives

SMART AGE aims to enhance media literacy among seniors, equipping them with the skills to critically assess digital content, identify misinformation, and navigate AI-generated media. The project promotes digital resilience, enabling elderly learners - especially those in rural areas - to participate confidently in the digital space. Through a structured micro-credential-based curriculum and an accessible MOOC, SMART AGE fosters civic engagement and strengthens seniors’ digital autonomy.

Activities

SMART AGE will develop a micro-credential-based media literacy curriculum, create an interactive MOOC platform, and conduct pilot testing with elderly learners to ensure usability. Three transnational meetings will facilitate project coordination, while regional multiplier events and a final conference will disseminate results. A large-scale social media campaign will raise awareness, reaching over 25,000 individuals and promoting media literacy among seniors.

Impact

SMART AGE will produce a media literacy micro-credential curriculum and a MOOC tailored for elderly learners. The project will enable seniors to obtain certificates of completion, recognising their digital competences. It will increase awareness of AI-driven misinformation, improve seniors’ engagement in online spaces, and provide sustainable digital learning resources that can be integrated into broader adult education initiatives.
