Objectives

The project aims to strengthen food system resilience and sustainability by promoting the use of locally adapted seed varieties through the development and support of Community Seed Banks (CSBs). By fostering adult education on seedsaving practices, the project will enhance participants' capacity to manage seed networks and biodiversity. Through cooperation and exchanges, the project will contribute to building a more diverse, adaptable food system that can better withstand climate challenges

Activities

Following a Kickoff meeting, the Seeds of Growth project will conduct a Capacity Gap Analysis to inform training needs and develop a Seed Knowledge Hub with practical resources. CSB Labs will provide training on seed conservation, governance, and policy. Cross-country visits will foster peer learning between Luxembourg and Czech Republic. National events and dissemination efforts will engage policymakers and the public, promoting seed diversity and its role in climate resilience.

Impact

The project is expected to result in the professionalization of seed-saving practices through increased knowledge and skills among seed savers, farmers, and community leaders. It will lead to the development of sustainable Community Seed Banks (CSBs), enhanced collaboration among seed networks, and greater public awareness of the importance of seed diversity. Additionally, the project will create a lasting online repository of resources and foster active engagement of the target grups
