▶Objectives
The goal of our project support social workers and community arts educators to reach out to local marginalized communities in a trauma aware way by combining applied shadow theatre and Theatre of the Oppressed by developing an easily accessible shadow theatre toolbox. It empowers learners of the partners and other organisations working in social contexts to use these theatrical tools as a method to implement positive changes in their local communities and enhances their democratic participation.
▶Activities
Our project staff meets for a Best Practice Exchange to develop an applied shadow theatre tool box for social workers and learners from marginalized communities including a guide on its use. We teach the use of our toolbox in one local multiplication activity per partner organization to our own staff and stakeholders and to learners form marginalized communities. We compile all project results on a dedicated project homepage and present them within our European professional networks.
▶Impact
The project will empower learners from different social contexts by giving them artistic means of expression and self-efficacy to affect their communities. For project staff, it will have created a professional standing in a new and innovative field and professional exchange. The partner organisations‘ work will have been presented locally and transnationally in an intriguing way. Social work as a field and its staff gains new accessible methods of theatrical intervention in communities.
