Objectives

The project works at the intersection of health and migration and aims to develop new approaches to educational offers for health prevention. The starting point is the copilation of traditional and favourite dishes, ingredients and processing by migrant and non-migrant learners that have fallen into oblivion and are associated with the stigma of poverty, and the re-assessment of these eating habits from a nutritional and preventative health perspective.

Activities

At least 12 local workshops on the documentation/assessment of eating habits will be held during the project period. An international workshop will derive from the results presented in the previous local workshops, ideas and guidelines for their implementation in the educational practice of the institutions. Building on this, a guideline for the culturally sensitive revision/design of educational programmes will be produced and published in German and English.

Impact

In the course of the project, a documentation/assessment of traditional and migrant eating habits will be prepared and guidelines for the use of these working results in educational practice and for opening up access to target groups from socially disadvantaged backgrounds. This production of knowledge and resources as well as the exchange of experience and transfer of knowledge between the institutions will strengthen the skills of the professionals and organisations involved.
