Objectives

The proposed project "ASSIST-AI" addresses a critical need in the European Union, where an estimated 7 million individuals are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The project aims to improve the social interaction-communication skills of 120 high-functioning individuals with ASD and provide training and tools to improve their verbal and non-verbal communication skills in order to integrate them into society.

Activities

ASSIST-AI partners will create training packages for professionals and families/caregivers (WP2), develop culturally relevant learning scenarios (WP3) and design an AI-driven Virtual Assistant supporting individualized learning for autistic adults (WP4). Activities include scenario-based simulations, expert consultations and pilot testing. The project will also host training workshops and dissemination events to ensure the adoption of innovative tools across the EU

Impact

The main results of the ASSIST-AI project are: 1.A TRAINING PACKAGE for professionals and families/caregivers to improve their skills in supporting autistic adults. 2.12 CULTURALLY RELEVANT SOCIAL SCENARIOS to help address the challenges that individuals with high-functioning autism may face in their daily lives 3. An ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE-SUPPORTED VIRTUAL ASSISTANT specifically designed to assist individuals with autism spectrum disorders in communication and social interaction
