Objectives

The project hypothesis is that intergenerational play not only favours the inclusion of elderly, but also has a positive impact on their well being and the maintain of their cognitive and motor skills. The aim of the project is to define an efficient intergenerational play framework and to broadcast it to professionals involved in intergenerational and active ageing programs. The output of the project includes the publication of a resource package and the organisation of training sessions.

Activities

The results of the project will be based on a 9-month program of pilot sessions involving young people and elderly. The project will leverage on the experience of the two partners to define a common framework for the implementation of intergenerational play and the evaluation of user experience. The information collected during the sessions will be used to deliver a resource package and a training program that will be disseminated to professionals at the national and EU levels.

Impact

The output of the project will help professionals at the national and EU levels to improve their daily practices, which in turn will positively impact the inclusion and active ageing of elderly people. Professionals will benefit from a training program and a resource package including: (i) a user guide for the set up of a consistent and sustained intergenerational play framework, and (ii) a catalog of relevant games with a classification and analysis of their characteristics and required skills.
