▶Objectives
The project strengthens teachers‘ and pupils’ confidence and skills in mathematical problem solving. Teachers become more skillful in guiding problem-solving strategies, while pupils work on the same, challenging non-routine tasks with greater confidence and success experiences. This promotes inclusion, differentiation, strengthens basic skills, prevents disadvantage and leads to sustainable implementation in teaching practice.
▶Activities
Primary school teachers (50-100) co-create and test low-floor-high-ceiling non-routine maths problems and manuals. Materials are improved based on observations, interviews and student work. Training helps teachers apply effective didactics. Results are disseminated through conferences, publications and networks, and shared in an online final event. The materials remain available through the Kangaroo organisations and the HU for continued use in practice.
▶Impact
20 empirically tested low-floor-high-ceiling math problem-solving tasks for primary schools, partly also suitable for visually impaired learners. Supplementary manuals with solution strategies, differentiation advice and practical insights. Training and guidance for in- and pre-service teachers. Evaluation through observations, interviews and questionnaires. Publication of materials in a booklet and online, wide dissemination through conferences and a final event.
