▶Objectives
We aim to enhance the development, educational and vocational prospects, and quality of life for deaf and deafblind individuals/students by providing them and their related people free and fully accessible tools and knowledge for communication and exchanging information - national sign languages and/or social haptic signals. We aim to foster awareness of deafness and deafblindness, and promote ways for more inclusive and accessible educational and social environments for the referred communities
▶Activities
We will research, categorize, video/photo document and describe topic-related SH signals in collaboration with deafblind communities; upload the materials to STS dictionary; produce a printable manual of hapteces with QR-codes; translate STS dictionary into Norwegian/Norwegian Sign Language (NSL); record, edit and upload NSL videos; translate SH section into 20 European languages; spread knowledge about the project, deafness/deafblindness, SHC system and STS dictionary.
▶Impact
The outcomes include: ~500 new hapteces (videos, illustrated photos, written descriptions) uploaded into the STS dictionary under various topics; a printable manual featuring ~100 hapteces tailored for users of SHC in Estonian, Italian, Portuguese, Swedish and Finnish; 15,000 video entries in Norwegian Sign Language; the SH section of the STS dictionary translations in 20 languages; the entire STS dictionary (~25 000 entries) translations and accessibility for Norwegian/NSL users.
