Objectives

The Nature&Disabilities project aims to improve the skills of educators and caregivers in Slovenia and Croatia working with adults with physical and mental disabilities, to encourage to incorporate as many activities as possible from the regular curriculum and leisure time into nature all year round, to inspire with new learning approaches such as gamification, forest therapy, green skills, which have been proven to improve the lives and empower individuals with special needs.

Activities

In Slovenia and Croatia, we will conduct a study on the state of education for adult individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities, their needs, learning specifics, the frequency of use and awareness of new learning approaches. We will organize two outdoor workshops for them and publish an e-handbook on gamification, forest therapy, and green skills for adults with special needs. A workshop and an online seminar will be organized for their educators and relatives.

Impact

The project will reasearch the situation in both countries, which will be a long-term benefit for all those involved in or making decisions about adults with disabilities. It will raise awareness about the proven benefits of gamification, forest therapy, green skills for this vulnerable group. It will empower educators with competencies in new nature-based teaching approaches. The e-manual will serve as a lasting practical aid. The dissemination will influence lasting local and systemic changes.
