▶Objectives
SNGs (semi natural grasslands) cover 38% of the total agricultural area in Türkiye and 31% of the European agricultural area. They are very important areas for biodiversity, ecosystem services, climate change and livestock. Sustainability of SNGs face many risks and the climate change process increases these risks even more. The project aims to develop vocational training on SNGs, which is seen to be lacking, to train SNG specialists and to contribute to the sustainability of SNGs in this way.
▶Activities
To determine and report on the current status, management methods and successful practices of SNGs in Europe. To organize a LTTA for the Smart Step team. (training of trainers) To develop training resources for agricultural professionals and students on SNG management. Using these resources in vocational education and making open access. To effectively disseminate the project and its results. To conduct joint research and training activities on SNGs after the completion of the project.
▶Impact
The results to be produced with Smart Step project; PR1- Analysis of the Current Status and Management Systems of SNGs in Partner Countries PR2 The Catalog of Key Plant Species in SNGs PR3- The Digital Best Practices Guide PR4- Learning Management System (LMS) PR5- Adaptive Management and Improvement of SNGs in a Changing Climate Training Modules PR6-Video Podcast Training Module PR7- Guide for the Use of Germplasm Banks in Biodiversity Conservation and Semi-Natural Grassland Enhancement.
