Summary

GEO-LUDENS: Creating a tech tool to promote European Traditional Sports and Games from an intergenerational and inclusive perspective is a project that has combined ancient sport and games with newest technologies in order to approach European Traditional Sport and Games (TSGs) to the youth, in their own language (visual, mobile and interactive). Three meetings were carried out; the initial meeting was settled in Universidad San Jorge (Villanueva de Gállego, Spain) and aimed to translate all partner the Kick Off Meeting in Brusels instructions for managering, image and dissemination. Technical topics as the better way to keep in contact, the best tecnology to gather all TSGs information, typology of TSGs and considerations for the webpage and the interactive tools were discussed. Second action was to outsource the webpage and tools by an open and public contract offer. TEMPO FINITO company was selected, and they start working on the design, image, usability, and tools. The intermediate meeting (in Budapest, Hungary) showed all partners the results of the intermediate financial and technical internal audit. The online questionnaire and the instructions for filling it were discussed. Rules to consider an activity as eligible for being in the European Map of Traditional Sport and Games were defined as: 1) Generationally transmitted (at least 3 generations); 2) played in a community (not on a family or little group); and 3) Being respectful of human and animal rights. Sports and games could be upload in English and also in their original language.On-line questionnaire was filled in a test by the project members to review any mistakes or problems it could happen filling it, and then it was sent to associations, clubs, federations, and any other organization related with TSGs. All the partner’s contacts were required to fill in the questionnaire and contribute. Some problems needed to be solved; for example, only the project partners were able to upload activities, so a procedure to add new organizations allowed to contribute was implemented. Another problem was to establish the gps position of modalities that are either practiced in different zones and regions, or that are performed in very close areas. To solve the first problem, it was established that the positioning point would be that where the game or sport has a greater relevance. For the second problem, it was decided that we would try to separate very close practices so that they do not appear as a single point in the map.Dissemination activities began from the Project start, but they they acquire a special role once the interactive map is ready to use. Activities in all educational level (from Kindergarten to University) and involving associations and clubs were carried out. In Spain, Aragon Government (Spain regional government) included GEO-LUDENS in its research database and they programmed a “New models of preserving TSGs” session for regional Primary and Secondary teachers and other stakeholders in January 2019. In Greece, Over 3,450 reached to date that can be counted, in addition to those we have not counted or estimated. In Hungary, using the Baranta Association’s social network, the news and progression of GEO-LUDENS project was dispread at Baranta’s social and sport events where many physical education teachers, trainers and coaches were involved. The Geo-Ludens project was presented to the board members of AEJeST and quickly to the General Assembly in October 2017. Two Master’s in Education degree thesis include GEO-LUDENS in their projects and the innovation of this project was selected for be exposed at an Educational Innovation Workshop in June 2018.Final meeting in Athens (Greece) had the objective of compiling all the economic data and results of each of the partners, to prepare the final reports of the project, as well as to show the last actions carried out and correct possible errors in the documentation to be delivered.
