Summary

As per the original application, the project partners supported the development of a new set of sport rehabilitation activities which provided a comprehensive approach to rehabilitation of persons with disabilities through adapted sports activities. These activities are suitable for people with different kinds of disabilities supporting the value »sport for all«. The project ReSport promoted voluntary activities in sport, social inclusion, equal opportunities, and awareness of the importance of health-enhancing physical activity through increased participation in, and equal access to sports through local and international events and frequent implementation of all ReSport Activities - skiing and pro ski (skiing simulator), nordic walking (with gymstick) and snowshoeing, sport orientation, slickline, crossboccia, suping, swimming, netball, grass and snow footgolf and skike. The partnership’s goal was to encourage cooperation of target groups in the area of sport and physical activity and to support the European Week of Sports, the implementation of the EU principles of good governance in sport, the EU strategy for social inclusion and equal opportunities and the EU guidelines for physical activity. The project enabled and provided free sport, recreational and other activities through which motoric, physical, psychological, cognitive, sensory and other capabilities of persons with disabilities improved. The outcomes were evaluated before and after the implementation in order to measure the impact of the activities. The results of those are available at the Results Platform. The project promoted the role of volunteers as facilitators of activities or assistants in carrying out new sports programs for persons with disabilities encouraged fair play and equal opportunities for everyone, strengthened social skills, increased social integration and encouraged intercultural dialogue. Thus the network of competent and specialized European partners cooperated in the project "Resport” to develop new rehabilitation sports activities (“ReSport Activities”), test psychophysical improvements of persons with disabilities and promote physical activity among them. Project implementation raised awareness on the importance of physical activity and transfer knowledge at the European level. We shared our knowledge at local and international seminars training 423 experts who can further spread the knowledge and values of the project and the development of ReSport Guidelines that were distributed to more than 1000 emails. The Guidelines contain a number of directions and examples of good practice that will help all readers - employees, therapists, trainers, people with disabilities, their relatives and interested members of society - in deciding and preparing programs of adaptive and integrated sports activities for people with disabilities. Following the guidelines allow us to take appropriate actions and monitor people with disabilities in various adapted sports activities, timely identification and prevent possible complications, and thus carry out sports and recreational programs smoothly. We also examined the satisfaction and usefulness of our interventions through questionnaires that gathered information from all partners' organizations representatives, people with disabilities, and relevant experts at our three ReSport International Camps. We also presented our findings and knowledge at national and international level at conferences and meetings. We spoke about the rehabilitation effects of the "Resport Activities" on the cognitive, social and physical conditions of people with disabilities at the press conferences gathering national and local media and producing more than 30 media (radio, television, newspaper) announcements and more than 100 social media announcements.
