Summary

The project “Network” has mainly been designed for children and kids in primary e secondary schools in the towns of Avellino, Tryavna, and Madrid. The project’s main aim has been that of promoting social and intercultural interaction e inclusion, thank to the powerful action of aggregation that sport can perform. With the ultimate goal of engaging with ethnically mixed kids coming from “sensible” contexts, various different moments of encounter and sports meetings have been organised. The project staff committed itself to carefully co-ordinating and supporting sports activities (and simple games for more little kids), in order to achieve educational objectives. Project activities has been planned on the basis of the recognition of sport as an educational vehicle, in order to encourage an “integral growth of the individual” involved in a general anthropological context that evidences the invaluable self-respect of each human being. From an educational point of view, the project proposed and organised a series of school meetings to teach students the importance of sports for the healthy growth of young generations, from both a physical and a psychological point of view. Moreover, the project doctor took care of talk to young children and kids during these meetings, in order to understand their sports and eating habits.Among themes covered by the project, we have necessarily to mention that of violence, which has been one of the main points touched. Children and kids had the possibility to reflect on what society constantly show about violence, on wrong patterns of behavior that they hear about everyday through the media. It has been explained that, in our modern society, values such as honesty, loyalty, discretion, legality, simplicity, correctness, which are promoted through sport, should conquer more importance.
