โ–ถSummary

The Collaborative Partnership on Investments in Sport utilised the knowledge of experts in the fields of economy, governance and sport to provide recommendations about investments in sport infrastructure. To be able to do that, they developed a research methodology, conducted a study, used the empirical results to develop guidelines for investments in sport, and created the online calculator as a tool that can be used in the initial assessment of the economic impact of an investment in sport infrastructure. To test the empirical results of the study and discuss the guidelines on investments in sport which were built on those results, ten organisations from seven EU Member States organised national conferences in their countries: Austria, Croatia, Cyprus, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Portugal, United Kingdom. The purpose of conferences was to open the dialogue about investments in sport infrastructure with relevant stakeholders, to create a better understanding of the role of sport as a driver for growth and employment, and to collectively contribute to the creation of the final outputs: Guidelines on research methodology, Study on the economic impact of an investment in sport, Guidelines on investments in sport, and Recommendations to policy-makers.The aim of improving the evidence-base for investments in sport infrastructure was to increase the quality of the decisions and policies about investments in sport. Policy formulation informed by empirical results has the potential to improve good governance i.e. accountability, transparency, effectiveness and efficiency in policy making.
