Summary

The project 'Rugby: From recruitment to the 3rd half' is a project which was born 2 years ago between 3 clubs (FRANCE/ITALY/PORTUGAL) from rural areas wishing to develop and share their work methods, recruitment and good practices with other clubs from diverse backgrounds.' Erasmus + Sports' gave them this opportunity and all joined the idea of exchanging knowledge across borders and adjusting their experiences and beliefs combining philosophy of sport, historical heritage and cultural experiences to times of reflection, cohesion and sometimes change. Thus, physical preparation, food for the sportsman, physical and sports education offered as part as the school system, encouragement of physical activity for children, sports activities in so-called "sensitive" districts, links between health and physical exercises, innovation in sports equipment, renewal of teams of supervisors, volunteers, involvement of managers and administrators, discussions with families, respect for games and life codes, prevention of doping and violence ... are examples of work and reflection that have been carried out by these 3 clubs during the 6 meetings and which illustrate the extension and the diversification of the work carried out within rugby clubs over time.Conferences and discussions with experts and regional sport fédérations from each country animated these exchange groups and allowed the promotion and recognition of the work of the volunteers within the clubs. The activities and training in the host clubs with the players completed these times of reflection and made it possible to put into practice all these contributions of work, solidarity and surpassing oneself while encouraging initiative and perseverance. These exchanges showed how much the implication of all allows the cohesion of the teams and the solidarity, that it is among the players or the leaders and that the many human values which this sport releases, learns to remain fair play in the challenge and adversity. And it is truly a challenge that all of these volunteers must take up every day in order to keep their clubs alive but also their passion. In addition to sharing sports values, this project has encouraged the discovery of other cultures, other lifestyles and managed to offer a better understanding of European sports systems, with a view to living a more united Europe, closer to people who are far from major cities and knowledge of European calls for projects.
