Summary

The aim of the "Sport for All and the Environment" (SforAE) project was to raising awareness of the benefits of implementing ecological behavior in the field of sport for all. The project was lead by the RECAL Foundation and supported by the following sport organisation from the V4 countries (CZ, HU, PL, SK):- Czeh Republic - Česká asociace Sport pro všechny, z. s.- Hungary: Magyar Szabadidosport Szovetseg- Poland: Przemyski Klub Biegacza- Slovakia: Asociácia športu pre všetkých Slovenskej republikyThe main project goal was to promote the „green thinking” and the sustainable approach in sport for all events in the V4 area through the following activities:- "Green guidelines" were created in 5 languages (EN, PL, SK, CZ, HU) with recommendations for organizers of sport events interested in limiting the impact on the environment.- The project partners involved „green” events (25-30 events/partner) to the project, where ecological aspects were ensured. This way 114 local events became a part of the SforAE initiative. - Also, all project partners organized a flagship event (all together 5 successful events) where the ecological aspects were highly emphasized. - In total in all 119 Project events took part 126,5 thousands of sportsmen and supporters.- RECAL delivered free canned water, cardboard containers and bags for empty beverage cans for the joining local events. The local organizers could apply for these materials and confirm the collection of cans during the event. Collected cans were be sent for recycling by the local waste management system or to a buy-back points. - Best practive brocuhre in 5 languages (EN, PL, SK, CZ, HU): A publication of 10 best pro-ecological practices selected from among supported sport events and flgaship events (min. 2 from each country).All together 7 project meetings were organized in order to have a smooth project impementation. The communication and dissemination of the project was ensured through different channels thanks to the partner organisations. RECAL also made a great impact by creating a dedicated SforAE website www.sforae.eu and promotional materials (cans, containers and bags for empty cans, cotton bags, t-shirts).
