Clubs for Health-enhancement, Activation, Modernisation and Participation

Background To battle decreasing physical activity levels of Europeans and to increase membership in sports clubs, the CHAMP project aims to give the organised sport movement innovative tools and education for modernisation, offering insights of current trends and solutions for increasing physical activity. The project is a result of a partnership among nine European organisations from eight countries, ENGSO, in the role as project coordinator, one research organisation and seven sports organizationsโ. Objectives Objective 1: To carry out evidence-based research on the benefits of modernization of the sport movement.Objective 2: To do research on and identify innovative practices to increase physical activity and sport participation inside and outside of sport. Objective 3: To produce and disseminate educational content on these innovative practices to modernize the sport movement and to make the educational material available for the public free of charge in a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) Implementation By carrying out research on the benefits of modernisation within the sport sector and by collecting innovative practices within and outside the sport sector the consortium have created a solid knowledge base on modernisation and innovation within the traditional sports movement. The results have been distributed to the sports movement by multiplier events, webinars, social media campaigns and a final conference, reaching over 350 sport organisations across Europe. Achievements The main result of the CHAMP project is the online course named: How to manage a modern sports club (engso-education.eu/champ). The course will support representatives from sports clubs and sports organisations across Europe to initiate new, innovative solutions to manage the modern sport organization. By completing the course, the participant will gain knowledge on how to modernise sports clubs, gain new members, improve the economy and financial aspects, communicate, work with volunteers.
