Practical Execution of Good Governance in Sport for Baltics

The main aim of the project was to close the gap between theory and practice with enhancing sport federations and sport clubs with practical guidance on how to identify and implement principles of good governance. This assisted to identify, promote and shar good governance practices and assisted in developing necessary skills for practical guidance application in local and national organizations.In the beginning of the project a context analysis was executed by all partner countries. Potential trainees and the main stakeholder such as local/regional sport governing bodies and some sport clubs was included in the process in order to get better understanding the objectives of the project. Context analysis was conducted according prepared guidelines and template by project coordinator. In total 3 context analyses were prepared (Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonia) and presented in the kick-of project meeting in Tallinn, on 08 of March 2019.Further, all consortium worked on the adaptation of the training course which were adopted from already existing sport administration program, and shifted to assist the sport organizationโs employees to function more effectively in their present positions by exposing them to the latest concepts, information and techniques and developing in them the skills required in the field of good governance, as well as, to train and enhance the competences of sport organizations management staff in implementation of good governance principles in practice within the sport industry.Also, during this meeting after discussions was decided (after approval from EACEA) instead of the second planned partner meeting in July (in Riga) to have the skype call to finalise the content, agendas and participants profile/list of the national trainings. And to use allocated budget and distribute it for the Estonian and Latvian partner to bring more representatives from their sport organisations who participated in the national training sessions to the final project promotional conference in Vilnius (Lithuania). This increased the value of the conference and the participants had better opportunity to discus and present challenges, gaps and forward-looking strategies for the advancement of good governance principles implementation within sport federations and sport clubs.Due to interactive aspect of the training course it was adaptable to different interests of participants (and countries) and was easily tailored to their needs. In the training material was used only a minimum of theoretical background and the main focus were on practical assignments, case studies and best practice examples. Target group of the national training sessions were national sport federations, sport clubs, volunteers and decision makers in the field of sport.These works were followed by national training (NT)session in all three countries. The times for the national training sessions were selected differently in each partner country. Estonian Olympic Committee (ENOC) session did on 01 โ 02 of November, participated 19 attendees (8 males, 11 females). Latvian sport federation council (LSFC) NT session did on 30 โ 31 of October, participated 32 attendees (13 males, 19 females). Lithuanian union of sport federations (LUSF) NT session did on 25 โ 26 of September, participated 20 attendees (12 males, 8 females). The aim was to have 60 participants from all partner countries in the NT sessions, consequently, the goal was achieved in total 71 participant participated in GANTT national training sessions across 3 countries.Finally, on the 8th of November 2019, final project promotional conference in Vilnius (Lithuania) was held.The main aim of the final project promotional conference was to present challenges, gaps, opportunities and forward-looking strategies for the advancement of good governance principles implementation within sport federations and sport clubs.
