The objective of the project is to design, to develop and to test a curriculum for Specialized Sport Instructor providing sport services to persons with a disability. The project is based on a need-assessment carried out by a mix of physiotherapist and sport instructors. The project uses the experiences, the competences and most advanced knowledge of the project partners in providing sport services to persons with a disability. The project applied the following steps in the methodology for designing and developing the curriculum: 1.Describing the ideal profile of a Specialised Sport-Instructor2.Defining enrolment criteria for sport instructors to participate in the curriculum3.Aims, objectives and intended outcomes of the curriculum4.Identifying knowledge, skills, competences, qualifications for Specialised Sport Instructor by applying the European Qualification Framework (EQF)5.Selecting and determining key topics of the learning program, the detailed content, the method of evaluation, interactions to achieve the objectives and intended outcomes;6.Identifying the structure of the curriculum: modular program and blended learning: theoretical information, discussion and practical exercises.7.Identifying and describing a resource plan detailing people, materials, time, facilities;8.Identifying a plan how to put the intentions into action and assigning responsibilities for who should do what, when and where9.Testing the curriculum in a two days learning event 10.Practicing the acquired knowledge, skills and competences in daily practice of the participants. (6 months)11.Monitoring and evaluating the two days learning event, the success of sport-instructor-curriculum and the experiences of implementing knowledge, skills and competences in the daily practice.12.Adjusting the curriculum in order to improve the achievements and the effectiveness of the curriculum.Conclusion:The curriculum for Specialised Sport Instructor is a unique learning program where key concepts of serving persons with a disability are presented from a theoretical point of view with practical exercises of sport and from the perspective of 4 different target groups: individuals with physical disability, intellectual disability, mental health and young persons with a disability.The evaluation shows a high appreciation/satisfaction of all participants of the learning event. 95 % of the participants expressed that they have increased their knowledge, skills and competences and they feel more confident in providing individualized and group-oriented sports activities to individuals with a disability.
